Revision

The Revision Clock
The Revision Clock is our simple, structured approach to helping students revise effectively and independently. It encourages students to move beyond simply re-reading notes and instead use a continuous cycle of testing, identifying gaps and targeted practice.
Students follow five clear steps:
1. Test → 2. Assess → 3. Identify → 4. Revise → 5. Test Again
Students begin by testing themselves, using resources such as past-paper questions, quizzes, homework platforms or retrieval activities. They then assess their work, checking answers carefully and learning from any mistakes. This allows students to identify the specific topics, knowledge or skills that need further improvement.
Students then revise those priority areas, using effective strategies such as flashcards, retrieval practice, self-quizzing and practice questions. Finally, students test themselves again to check whether their knowledge and understanding have improved.
The Revision Clock is designed to be repeated. Each time students complete the cycle, they can identify their next area for improvement and continue working through the process.
By following the Revision Clock regularly, students can make revision more focused, purposeful and manageable, while developing greater independence and confidence in knowing what to revise and what to do next.
Small steps, repeated regularly, lead to big progress.
