A level results 2024-2025

Woolwich Polytechnic School is proud to announce another year of exceptional A-Level results, with 80+% of all grades awarded falling within the A* to C range. This remarkable achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and ambition of our students, supported every step of the way by our dedicated teaching and support staff.

Director of Sixth form, Ms Bassi said, “We are incredibly proud of the entire Year 13 cohort. They have shown outstanding resilience, maturity, and determination, and their achievements today are a true testament to their efforts and to the commitment of our staff team.”

Among the many success stories this year are Tamim and Oladapo, who both achieved an incredible four A grades each including A*s in some of their subjects. These phenomenal results have placed them among the top-performing students in the country and have secured them places at prestigious Russell Group universities.

In fact, Woolwich Polytechnic Sixth Form students have likely once again outperformed both the London and national average for Russell Group university offers - Exeter, UCL, Birmingham, Kings, Warwick, Queen Mary and Imperial - demonstrating the school’s consistent focus on academic excellence and student aspiration.

Beyond university, many students have also secured competitive apprenticeships at top firms across Finance, IT, Insurance and Engineering sectors. A number of students are set to begin exciting roles at OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator - highlighting the diverse range of successful pathways our students are now pursuing.

“Whether our students are heading to university, starting an apprenticeship, or entering the world of work, we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them,” said head of year 13, Mr Tatton. “This cohort has shown what is possible when high standards meet belief and support.”

Headteacher, Mr Tom Lawrence stated, "Our class of 2025 have done themselves proud, achieving admirable A Level and vocational results that will enable nearly all students to get their first choice of university or apprenticeship. Our headline figures show an impressive 98.5% pass-rate, and for those grades that really matter to get into university, C-A* grades, our overall percentages hold up very well indeed. The results day itself has been a great day of rightful celebration for staff and students. I am immensely proud of their considerable achievements and wish them well in their next stage, confident that they have built a great foundation for future success at the Poly."

Woolwich Polytechnic School congratulates all its students and looks forward to following their continued success in the years ahead.

Our students are truly ‘Tomorrow’s Leaders’.”

It is with tremendous pride that Woolwich Polytechnic Sixth Form, rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted, celebrates the success of the Class of 2022. Along with their peers across the country, students entered this exam season with no previous public exam experience amidst the turmoil created by numerous lockdowns. However, there is no evidence of these difficulties in the cohort’s results: 51% of students achieved A*-B, with a significant number continuing their academic pathways at Russell Group universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial, amongst others.

Notable results and destinations were:

  • Peter Wareing - A*AA, History of Art at Oxford

  • Olumide Apanisile-A*A*A*A, Engineering at Cambridge
  • Monica Ohakwa-A*AA, Law at Warwick

It is without surprise that staff at Woolwich Poly are extremely proud of the students’ achievements. Hannah Elliott, Head of Sixth Form comments, “I couldn’t be prouder. I am delighted that we have maintained our outstanding results and the hard work of staff and students has paid off. " I am filled with gratitude.” Heads of Year, Ms Susan Principe and Mr Greg Tatton expressed a particular delight in what the year group has achieved. “The resilience this class has demonstrated is unlike anything we have ever seen. To not only come through the pandemic, but to thrive academically and achieve firsts for both themselves and the Sixth Form is incredible. We only hope that they are as proud of themselves as we are of them.”

This sentiment is shared by Head of School, Mr Tom Lawrence, stating, “With another unpredictable and challenging year for our students, we are delighted that so many are leaving us with excellent grades, going onto the universities of their first choice. I am truly in awe of the talents our students have developed over their years with us and am confident that they will continue to develop their skills further over the next stages of their academic careers. I want to also congratulate our staff who have negotiated the uncertainties with dexterity and sensitivity to support and guide this highly motivated cohort to their A Level and BTEC success.

A Level Results 2019

Woolwich Poly Sixth Form, an OFSTED rated Outstanding sixth form, are celebrating another successful year of Post 16 qualifications. Their motto of “Tomorrow’s Leaders” is certainly pertinent to their diligent Class of 2019 with over half of their students graduating with grades A*-B.

Among the top performers is Kelvin who obtained outstanding results in some of the most challenging courses: Maths (A*), Further Maths (A), Computer Science (A) and Physics (A). He said, “I would like to thank all of my teachers here at the Poly – I couldn’t have done it without them!” Another student, Perfecta, an A* student states, “what a rollercoaster the last two years has been; I can’t wait to see what the future brings. I am so proud of my achievements.” Other students among the top achievers include: Raees (AAB), Fikayo (AAB) and Alex C (AAB).

“We are extremely proud of our students who have achieved grades to be commended in the face of the increasingly rigorous nature of A-Level courses, proving that the high expectations of both students and staff, along with the countless hours of study, has all been worth it!” States Hannah Elliott, Head of Year 13 and Deputy Head of Sixth Form.

Head of Sixth Form, Miss Anne Bassi said: “It is a privilege to work with such wonderful young people. Here at the Poly, we foster a culture of success, as witnessed by today’s celebrations.”

Head Teacher, Mr Plumb, is overjoyed by the results: “This is a fantastic set of results for both the school and the Royal Borough of Greenwich. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, our Governors, and, of course, the students themselves for their sheer determination and hard work!”

It is no surprise that Woolwich Polytechnic is the Sixth Form of choice, for many, in South East London and is substantially oversubscribed.
