We are delighted to celebrate the incredible success of 25 of our Sixth Form students who recently participated in the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Senior Mathematics Challenge -a prestigious national competition that attracts thousands of the most talented students across the UK.

The Senior Challenge is designed to push mathematical thinking beyond the classroom, testing advanced problem-solving skills and logical reasoning. Achieving a certificate in this competition is a significant accomplishment, and invitations to the British Mathematical Olympiad (BMO) or Senior Kangaroo rounds place students among the top mathematicians in the country.

This year marks a milestone for our school: every student who took part – except for two – earned a certificate ranging from Bronze to Gold, an outstanding achievement that reflects their dedication and talent.

Top Achievers

Two of our Year 12 Further Maths students have gone above and beyond by qualifying for the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1:

• Malachi O – Scored 120 points, earning Gold, Best in School, and a BMO invitation.
• Calvin T – Scored 112 points, also achieving Gold and a BMO invitation.

In addition, seven high-performing students have been invited to sit the Senior Kangaroo follow-up exam, another prestigious round for top scorers:

• David M
• Kulvir D

Achievements like these are highly regarded by universities and will strengthen our students’ UCAS applications, showcasing their problem-solving ability, resilience, and commitment to academic excellence.

This success is a testament to the impact of our Maths GSI programme, which runs from KS3 through KS5, and to the dedication of our entire Maths Department. From KS3 teachers to KS5 specialists, every member has played a role in nurturing these talented students.

A special “Thank You” goes to Mr Panesar, Mr Agudosy, and Mr Silver, whose tireless work with our Sixth Formers has made this achievement possible.
